Deep Tissue Massage relieves tension in the layers of tissue in the body by applying firm pressure with a variety of strokes to the muscles and fascia. It is a highly effective method used to treat chronic pain, muscle soreness, and sports-related injuries. Additionally, Deep Tissue massage is used to treat muscle and tendon injuries, pain, and stiffness in your major muscle groups and joints.
Due to the nature of deep tissue massage, open communication between the client and therapist during the session is important. Do not be afraid to tell your therapist to apply less pressure in order to avoid discomfort. Some clients may feel mild soreness after a session and it is important to drink plenty of water to aid with flushing toxins out of the body that are released during the session.
If you are experiencing pain in the lower back, shoulders or neck, or have a sports-related injury, deep tissue massage could be beneficial in easing the pain.
